Greetings Fukuma Family Football Prognosticators!
We are two weeks into the 2019 NFL Season, and I must say, I am just not feeling it. Getting off to a slow start has not helped; but it does not look like I am the only one. Check out the crowds at stadiums in DC, Miami and LA last week. Talk about no-shows!
The reason? If you had to point to one thing…the games stink! In many cases the featured matchups have been unwatchable, and already after just two weeks, many of the league’s star players are injured and out for the season. Be honest, who is really interested in watching New England win another Super Bowl? AARG! I would rather watch Brian Shaw try to get an out in the 7th inning…and everyone already knows what kind of eye-gouging experience that is!
Alas, with the season underway we will continue to do our best to pick with style, and we may even find a win every now and again. However, for the good Dr. and me, Riley C. is a thing of the past. As was noted last week…”The Climb” back to respectability is under way!
Thanks to Angelo for once again putting our weekly contest together and feel free to coordinate with him anytime you would like to chime in with an opinion. Please keep it football fun and family related, as we keep this contest a politically neutral free zone!
As for results…the women are once again off fast. Enough said. Gets embarrassing after a while, as it seems the trophy may never leave Niwot! Check out the website for the latest results and let either Angelo or me know if you have any questions.
Four bits of family news.
1) Let’s start with news out of Niwot. Miss Nicole and Kyle are set to move! Not sure of the exact date, but with Mom and Dad in Oregon playing winemakers…it won’t be long after they get back. Congrats you two, and we look forward to a housewarming party that will get you off to a great start! However, Nicole, you may want to wait on purchasing that 3 foot reptile until after the party! 🙂 (BTW, if you have not heard…Mr. Kyle is the newest member of Danny’s roofing team and is learning the roofing trade. It is hard work, but you will always have a job as there is always a need for good construction help in Colorado. Kyle, welcome to the Colorado and the west…what was once the best kept secret in the US…but unfortunately word is spreading! Enjoy it…there is nothing like living in Colorado.)
2) News from Oregon. The Beav’s are off and running in the northwest having begun the 2019 XC season with a very strong Viking Rust Buster. Following up last year’s 1st place finish – with a second place this year – that was after knocking 25 seconds of last year’s time, Miss Lexi and her mates win the meet and take 8 of the first 10 places! The Beav’s had a strong recruiting class and several freshman appear poised to make contributions this year, so way to go Lex and best of luck as the season progresses! We will be watching with much interest!
3) News from Fort Fun. How is Miss Angi doing following her transfer to CSU from Oregon Tech? In a word, great! Ang reports she is liking the campus and the activities very much. Just received news she is going to play club tennis and was selected for the traveling squad, which will keep her engaged with a “team” and all that that affords. Keep it up Ang…and remember your Unc’s advice…you know, the bit we discussed about analyzing each situation by thinking about what your Uncle would do…and then doing the exact opposite? It will serve you well as you go forward, although it may not be quite as much fun!
Yo Austin, welcome to the league! We are glad you joined us! Drop a note letting us know what you are up to and we will make sure to add it to a future update.
4) Lastly, you cannot have an update without something about our little man. Logan Paul and family ventured west this month and he made his first trip to Disneyland! Along with Mommy and Daddy, Auntie Robyn and Uncle Angelo were there as well, and reported he loved the rides and all that Disney offers as well as a trip to the ocean. Logan moved up to Antelope in school, and unfortunately he had to say goodbye to Miss Kiki and Miss Cheri, his two favorite teachers. He is adjusting to his new class and hopefully he will be just as happy as he was in Bears.
Guess that is all for now. Hugs and love to all! Until next week…good luck and good picking!
