Hola!
Results are not yet out for week 14, but I wanted to catch up with blog posts and am writing this week’s entry ahead of the weekly tally’s. On the strength of some late game heroics, yes, I lost the close ones again this week, I am hoping to make up ground that was lost in week 13.
Who had the Jets? Miami? Oakland? San Francisco? Shall I continue? What a mess. I have to admit, my favorite game of the week had to be the Miami/New England tilt. I was so looking forward to seeing Bill Belichick’s post game comments…only to be disappointed, but what a finish it was! I had it in the win column right along side the Bills, who once again proved that the only thing the prevent defense does…is prevent you from winning! That one hurt…If you have Comcast, don’t you love NFL RedZone?
So, in lieu of results…What had me thinking this week?
First, team uniforms. What is with neon colors? I tuned in Monday night and literally had to wear sunglasses to watch the Seattle/Minnesota game! Come on, whatever happened to understated class? Give me Roger the Dodger in the Navy/Silver Cowboy road uniforms over Monday night’s neon green train wreck any day! And on top of that, we had to watch Pete Carroll spit his gum on the field the entire game! Pete, get a clue, you are on camera!
The only good thing about the Seattle game was that Richard Sherman was in San Francisco…
Second, the Oakland/Pittsburgh game. Why is the Raider organization still in the NFL? The game against Pittsburgh was more of what we have come to expect…the field was in unplayable condition, ultimately determining the outcome as the Steelers kicker could not maintain his footing while attempting to tie the game on the final play of the game, the play throughout was equally sloppy and the team is once again embroiled in the ever present lawsuit with the city of Oakland. I doubt a move to Las Vegas is going to make any difference, but Raider fans don’t lose hope, you have “Chucky” at the helm for the next 10 years and only had to pay him $100,000,000 for the honor of his presence. At some point don’t you just have to go Roberto Duran and say “no mas?”
Lastly, Baker Mayfield. I watched his first game earlier this season and it was impressive to see how the team responded to him. Like him or hate him, he has certainly exceeded expectations as far as I am concerned and I look forward to watching him Saturday vs. the Broncos.
That will do it for this week. Good luck and good picking!
