Good Morning Fukuma Family Football Pickers!
Week one is in the books and we have already seen surprises a plenty… including a tie – Cleveland almost had its first win in two years, “upsets” – if there can be such a thing in week one, a major 4th quarter comeback by Green Bay, an elimination from Riley C. contention and the Rockies receiving more votes than the Broncos as to who was going to be watched in last Sunday’s game! That has to be a first!
Who is out of Riley C.? Unfortunately, Jill is on the outside looking in and will need a perfect week to get back in the running.
Of all the people to be eliminated…this is the award she covets most, so Sissy, know I am pulling for you to rebound! Don’t lose hope…you can do it!
Great to see all the new players this year, and several returning players who were absent last year! All did very well in week 1 and are off and running just as if they had never been gone!
Two points of clarification in case you are wondering. First, the tie game has been counted as a win for all players. This ruling was established by precedent a few years ago and will be used for any future ties that may occur. Second, we are hoping to have the email confirmation feature of the site working this week. Please let our IT guru know if you do not receive your pick confirmation email.
As far as the week’s highs and lows…How about the aforementioned IT guru, Sir Angelo, coming out on top with 13 wins? Another first! He is singing a duet of “Time Changes Everything” with the man in black, Johnny Cash, this week and we’ll see how his prognostication holds as we get into week 2!
The aforementioned Sissy checks into the Heartbreak Hotel this week with 7 wins. It is never good to visit Elvis, and it is particularly difficult after the first week. But, if you have to be knocked out of the Riley C. contention, there is a case to be made to do it early and know that you have 16 weeks to get back in! Chin up Sissy…there is a long way to go.
A couple of notes of interest, non football related.
Nicole has started her teaching assignment and is Connecticut cracking the whip and teaching the inquiring minds that want to know! Good luck Nicole…we know you will win them over and be great!
Lexi is back on the course and finished the season opening “Rust Buster” on top, first ahead of 32 runners…running the 4K meter mixed terrain course in something just north of 14 minutes. Crazy! It would take me 14 to run 4K meters as well…unfortunately, it would be hours vs. minutes! Congratulations Lexi! Stay healthy and Godspeed!
Not to be outdone by her sister and older cousin, Miss Angi departed for Oregon Tech last week and is busy making the transition from high school to university. Good luck Angi! We know you will be welcomed by your new mates and make an impact on and off the court!
Ladies, we look forward to hearing all about your year, so drop the Commish a line every now and then and I will include what is happening in the summaries from time to time.
How about our little man? Well, good news there as well. LP joined the ranks of our children going to school! The first two weeks were a bit difficult on all concerned, but yesterday saw him post major breakthroughs! He was actually smiling as he played outdoors during recess! Way to go Logan! Can’t wait for our next “Man Day Monday!”
That’s all for this week. Stay cool, have a great week and remember, for the time being, the Rockies are #1 and need all the support they can get! Go Rox!
