Good Morning Pigskin Pickers! It is Thanksgiving week and let me be the first to say “Happy Thanksgiving” to each of you!  A couple of weeks back, I asked everyone to submit feedback on what they were thankful for and how whatever they were thankful for makes their life better.  Unfortunately, I did not get a huge response, but I did receive one response that spoke to what I was thinking and it is this response that will begin our week 10 blog.   It is well worth the read, and expresses sentiments I am sure many of us share…and I am hoping it brings a smile all around! To remind everyone what was asked…there were two specific questions: 1)  Why are you thankful?, and2)  How does what you are thankful for translate into making your life better? Likely, we would all put a slightly different spin on these questions; but I think at the center of why each of us is thankful, would be a common theme.  The

Hi All! What a week it has been!   Finally…the election is over and the incessant ads, that do little more than disparage the opponent, are on hiatus.  Hopefully for much of 2019, but I doubt the campaigners will be able to hold out that long!  Regardless, I will take any reprieve I can get! As for football, let’s take a minute to ponder week 8 results and catch up a bit with a housekeeping item re: the Riley C. award.    As you may have seen via email, week 8 produced a first for the Fukuma Family Football League.  Congrats to Sarah for recording the first “perfect” week in the history of our league!  14-0, and with it comes a free pass should she run into a problem with Riley C. qualifying between now and the end of the year!   Well done Sarah, and as has been a recurring theme this season…score one for the

Hi Everyone… It is a new week.  What fun it is to be able to approach each new week with an opportunity to write about anything I want to write about… Better yet, to be able to comment on anything I personally find interesting…even though it may not be of much interest to others!  Such is the case when I sit down to write our league’s blog.   Ken writes about sports on a daily basis, and does so on subjects that are much more “meaty” than the results of a weekly pick-em contest.  But, regardless of the subject…the question is…are the comments relevant and on point as well as entertaining?  Opinions vary I am sure, but what Ken wants to achieve is to make people think and to see his words provide a catalyst for change.  I, on the other hand, have a less lofty goal.  I simply want bring a smile…and on

ood Moooooorning Fukuma Football Pickers! Seven weeks in, and it is time for a change.   As I watched a little football yesterday (how about those Chiefs?!!!!) it struck me that just as all good things come to an end…change is both inevitable and good when viewed in the proper context.   For us, this means a mid season change to two standby features…the weekly high point “Ring of Fire” award and corresponding singing with Johnny Cash, as well as the weekly low point “check-in” to the Heartbreak Hotel.   Going forward both have gone to visit Elvis, literally and permanently, and I am looking for ideas for weekly fillers from all of you to spread the opinions shared and further engage everyone that plays. Send Angelo or me your thoughts on the season, specific plays, bad calls, bad beats or whatever strikes you as funny or interesting and I will be sure to include it in a

To All Fukuma Pigskin Pickers… Greetings!   We are one-third of the way through the season and it is time for self reflection.   Week 6 is behind us and yours truly once again finds himself on the wrong side of almost every close game played!  Can you relate?   If not, you may be wondering how you did…thinking that you may have a chance to sing with Johnny Cash this week.  Well, I do not want to disappoint you, but unless your name is Lexi Reed, you will be going “down…down…down, in a burning ring of fire!”…and the answer is you were beaten!     Yes…this week, and for the first time this season, we had a player demonstrate prognostication skills far greater than all others…and aside from Cam Newton being unable to rally his team to victory over the Redskins…she would have posted the first perfect week ever recorded!   Lexi Reed finds herself on top this week, posting
