I am writing this post before results for the week are known. It is Christmas week and we have much to do, don’t you know! 🙂
As I sit here reflecting on yet another “most awesome” Thanksgiving Day with family and friends, I am reminded once again how blessed we are to be able to enjoy this time together; and it was brought home even more this year as we were missing key members of our clan with the Reed’s in Oregon and Miss Nicole stuck in a nor’easter. The second annual Turkey Bowl definitely looked different, with Lexi not able to repeat her “torpedo touchdown”, Rachel hobbling past my absent partner for a go ahead score, the whole game lacking Angi’s energy and of course who can forget Nicole’s kicking prowess! All in all though, it was truly another great day!
Thanks to all for all the food prep as well as all you did to make the day special and a BIG “thank you” to Tom and Karen for hosting! As we get older, these Holiday’s do have a slightly different feel about them, but they remain very special to me and hopefully to each of you as well.
As for football, for the first time in several years, I went 3 for 3 on Thursday, and had visions of capturing that elusive perfect week!
However, the Cleveland Browns had other plans. Cinncy laid a big egg and I guess at this point you’d have to look at the Baker Mayfield critics and say “what do you have for me now?” Congrats to the Browns for breaking all kinds of winless streaks, but please, next time try to do it when I lose the first game of the week!
Good luck to all as we enter the final quarter of the season. Now is the time to make your move…and remember, there are still over 50 games available and anything can happen!
Before we leave changing fortunes…how about those Broncos? Two wins in a row, one on the road and both against quality opponents…perhaps there is more to that story! And then again, perhaps not! 🙂 The good thing as I see it is that no matter your feelings towards the Broncos, when they win, everybody is in a better mood and I will always take that – especially on the roads!
On an unrelated subject…last week I reviewed where we stood with the Riley C. award, and we are down to our final five. Still in contention are: Tom and Karen, of course – these two are fast becoming baseball’s Yankees in terms of winning championships – Chris, BooBoo and me. Win more than you lose coming home and as Kenny likes to say…”You’re In!”
Shifting gears from football to music, is anyone else as amped as me to learn that Mick and the Boys are heading back to Denver in 2019? In a true testament to living your life doing every kind of drug known to man and not “working” a day in your lives…and yet still living to tell the stories…I give you The Rolling Stones!
How cool is it to think that this band will have been touring for 60 years! And, their music is still played, interesting and relevant…some legacy indeed.
I last saw the Stones in Denver (they were on the VooDoo Lounge Tour) and it was a rocker like no other show put on by guys in their 70’s! Of course, my point of reference is a bit skewed in that I would not pay to see anyone else in their 70’s, aside from perhaps Sir Paul and Bruce! Regardless, expect me to be there again this time around! I may have to take Logan Paul, as I know Pami will not be attending, so get ready little man…pull out that Stones T-Shirt you received for your birthday and start practicing “Rock on Mick!”
Ok, I guess that is enough nonsense for this week. Good luck one and all and remember, your shopping days are numbered. Have fun and try not to lose sight of what is truly important this time of year!
Hugs and love to all…
Commish
